BSA Consultation for Aural Care Minimum Training Standards

BSHAA’s Position on Minimum Training Standards

Our top priority is ensuring the highest standards of patient safety. We also recognise the importance of maintaining timely access to care and supporting clear developmental pathways for practitioners at all levels.

As the sector considers the BSA’s proposals on minimum training standards in aural care, BSHAA is committed to striking the right balance: protecting patients while avoiding unnecessary barriers to service delivery and professional growth.

Thank you to everyone who has already responded to the BSA Minimum Training Standards Consultation. It is vital that we hear from as many members as possible to ensure your views are fully represented.

To support this, we’ve put together a visual summary providing an at-a-glance overview of what the proposed standards would mean for the roles most commonly associated with our members.

Why Your Input Matters:

In areas where clinical evidence is limited, your real-world expertise as hearing care professionals is crucial to forming a balanced and workable consensus.

As BSHAA members, you represent a significant portion of aural care providers across the UK. Your insights will help ensure the final standards are:

✅ Proportionate
✅ Practical
✅ Informed by clinical realities
✅ Aligned with existing regulatory frameworks

We believe that our members’ expertise and real-world experience are vital in shaping standards that are safe, proportionate, and practical. Your feedback truly makes a difference. Please take a moment to share your views.
