A message from the BSHAA President - Michael Marchant.
"As President, my approach is simple: do the right thing, care deeply, and make a difference. BSHAA will continue to advocate for its members and patients, uphold the highest professional standards, and continue to grow our strong, supportive community. I look forward to working with you all to shape the future of hearing care.”
BSHAA Welcomes New President
The British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists (BSHAA) is pleased to announce a change in leadership as part of its planned succession. Michael Marchant has been appointed as BSHAA’s new President, succeeding Rob Donnan, who has led the society over the past two years with dedication and commitment.

Reflecting on his appointment, Michael shared:
“I want to express my sincere gratitude to Rob Donnan for his leadership and contributions to BSHAA. His guidance has been instrumental in the society’s growth, and I’m honoured to build on the strong foundations he has laid.
My journey with BSHAA has been both rewarding and inspiring, from joining as a member to serving on the Board, chairing the Quality Standards Group, and most recently, as Vice President. Throughout, I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact BSHAA has on the audiology profession, and I look forward to working alongside our dedicated Board Members and partners to continue driving progress.”
Looking Ahead
As BSHAA moves into 2025 and beyond, strengthening relationships with members and industry partners remains a priority. The society remains committed to advocating for greater access to high-quality hearing care while equipping members with the tools, resources, and support needed to thrive in an evolving profession.
Collaboration will continue to play a key role in this journey, with ongoing partnerships across the sector, including work with CPDme to enhance professional development opportunities and support for Tinnitus UK in raising awareness of tinnitus and its impact. BSHAA is also preparing for Tinnitus Week, where key discussions and engagement opportunities will take place.
Engaging with the Wider Audiology Community
One of the highlights of the past year has been the collaboration with the HCPC, providing members with valuable face-to-face engagement opportunities at BSHAA events. Moving forward, the society remains dedicated to strengthening these connections to support members with regulatory compliance, audits, and professional standards.
A significant step forward has also been the increased collaboration across the audiology sector. Traditionally, organisations have worked independently, but recent joint discussions between BSHAA, BAA, BSA, AIHHP, and NCHA have paved the way for more unified efforts to address shared challenges and improve patient care.
